Crowdfunding
Announcement
As of April 13, 2011 it’s possible to support the making of HEADWIND in an unique way through ‘crowd-funding’. Crowd-funding is a new way to support (art) projects. It’s a great way to involve enthusiasts in making the project happen.
About financing HEADWIND
HEADWIND is an independent film that in its first production stages has been financed by the maker only. But the real costs starts when the shooting of footage in Nepal and India starts and ramps up when the editing stages start. The total required budget for HEADWIND is estimated at roughly one third of the budget of equivalent feature length documentaries. We have been able to cut the budget short by increasing personal effort, working against a volunteers salary and even the director giving up her home in the Netherlands for the time she’s working in Nepal and India. Also working with good equipment but without a large film crew and cutting down on the rates for editing makes possible to work with a tight budget.
What’s the required budget?
HEADWIND will be made against a €48.000 budget which is an amazing low budget for a production like this. Still, €48.000 is a lot of money and as roughly 40% of that required budget is invested by the director herself, it still leaves us with a budget gap of around €28.000. That money needs to be raised in the coming months as it is needed to finish the work. The main costs are post production studio and editing cost, travel and equipment cost and a refund of research and production cost for the makers.
HEADWIND production shares
To bring in the funds, HEADWIND will sell shares of €100 or multiples of that up to a grand total of €25.000. This means that there will be 250 €100 shares available for people who want to invest in the making of HEADWIND. These shares are NOT shares in the profits coming from HEADWIND when – if ever – it becomes a commercial success. In this industry success is not guaranteed and certainly in these economic harsh times we will count ourselves lucky if we can break even on this project.
What does a HEADWIND share give you?
Apart from the gratitude of the makers the following will become available for HEADWIND production shareholders:
- a signed HEADWIND production share certificate
- a signed HEADWIND dvd, delivered to you after the premiere week in 2012
- a ticket for one of the closed screenings of HEADWIND in 2012
- a ‘thank you’ mention on the titlerole of HEADWIND (if desired)
- for holders of 3 or more shares a free signed copy of the novel HEADWIND, written by the director to be published in 2011
